What possesses people.......!!

To destroy something that people have worked so hard to provide. Our lovely Christmas tree has apparently had the lights cut over the weekend.
This sort of thing makes me so angry as it does many of the Pudsey folk judging by face book reaction, I only hope someone knows who did it , they will be named and shamed.

Lights Twinkling!

Here`s the tree with lights twinkling ready for a great Pudsey Christmas :-) Thanks again to Farmac.

Farmac to the rescue!

It looked like Pudsey would be without a Christmas tree this year, so we would like to express a BIG thank you to Farmac who not only provided us with a tree but with lights too!

Still lots of colour.

Photos taken of the Lowtown beds on November 1st are showing a lovely display of colour, and with all the mild weather we still have fuschias in flower there too.

Community Talks

We had a lovely time a couple of weeks ago giving a talk to Pudsey Parish Church Mother`s Union about our group. We met some lovely ladies and made quite a few new `friends`. Everyone was very supportive and it was a lovely afternoon. We have now given two talks to local groups and have received requests to do more. It`s such a good way to meet local people and tell them about our work.

We have some new sponsors on board.

Many thanks to the following new sponsors for supporting the group, we hope you benefit from the advertising as much as we will from your contribution.

Prepare for summer colour!

There has been lots of group activity over the past couple of weeks preparing for lots of summer colour. It`s that time of the year again- out with the old and in with the new, old plants being recycled to make way for summer bedding. The troughs are being replanted with a mixture of Begonia, petunia, lobelia, tagetes, marguerite and asters.

The newly acquired bowser will also be put into full use over the summer months, who needs the gym with this work-out. Group members will be on a rota so everyone gets a turn!

Beautiful Spring Colour

Before spring beauty leaves us for another year, let`s remember the colourful display the tulips give everyone at Sparrow Park:

Wildflower beds.

In conjunction with LCC Parks Dept. we have sown a wildflower area in the park. The ground was prepared and children from Southroyd school helped to sow the seed. Fingers crossed we will have a lovely swathe of colour in a couple of months.

Yorkshire In Bloom Judging

Our Spring Judging for the YIB competition took place on Tuesday 5th April, here are a few pictures from before the date, all hands on deck, although a decent job seemed to have been done by `Locality` of LCC, and also thank to The Pudsey Litter Pick Party.
All seemed to go well, and we will be visited again in July for summer judging. The final results will not be known until  September, we will keep you posted. Thank you to everyone who helped us along the way.

Having a catch-Up

So much has been going on recently since our annual `Tidy Tuesdays` recommenced. Here is a pictorial catch up, mostly work carried out in the library square, and many thanks to the Masons, lodge of Benevolence of Pudsey for their kind donation towards improving this area.
Oh, and once you visit it, if you are in a quandary as in which direction to go next then
take a look at our sign post, that will be sure to confuse you!

Will you be our friend?

Last year we picked up a few friends at the Pudsey Carnival who are as passionate about we are in making Pudsey look as good as it can. `Friends` are people who may not be available to help out with planting or do not especially want to attend meetings, but would still like to support our work, and they can do this by sponsoring us for as little as £5 per year.
We now have our first news letter and it outlines all the work we are involved in and keeps our friends up to date.
We would love to have more friends, so if you are interested in sponsoring us and would like to receive our newsletter, then please drop us an email or ask us when we are out and about in Pudsey, you will usually spot one of us on a Tuesday morning.
Thanks!
